Happy Administrative Professionals Day!
According to the wealth of information that is Wikipedia, Administrative Professionals' Day (Also known as Secretary's Day) is an unofficial secular holiday observed in the U.S. on the Wednesday of the last full week of April to recognize the work of secretaries, administrative assistants, receptionists, and other administrative support professionals. Seeing as that would make it today, let me dedicate this weeks Brewsletter to all those hard working, telephone
answering, dictation taking, etc., 9 to 5er's out there. For those about to type, we salute you! Now let me clear up a little error in last weeks issue concerning the Mother's Day Buffet taking place at our Tempe location. Well, not really an error it's more like an omission, a small oversight if you will. The only problem is that this "oversight" was for arguably the biggest draw on the Mom's Day Menu in the "Carvings and Entrees" portion. Lets try this one more time with all items included: Mother's Day Brunch Buffet (Tempe Location Only!) Sunday, May 9th, 10am to 2pm*Beginnings & Starters* Mixed Spring Greens with Assorted Homemade Dressings Seasonal Fruit Tray Asst. Pastries, Danish & Bagels Artisan Breads

dropping by and bringing in the whole family, please
contact us to make reservations. Feel free to either drop us a line at (480)
303-9967 or send an email to steve@fourpeaks.com. As for what the Scottsdale Grill & Tap plans to do, I promise you that I will have their menu ready for next weeks edition of the Brewsletter. Are you ready for some football? The NFL seems to think so. This week we will be privy to the brand new NFL Draft selection process and late yesterday afternoon they unveiled the complete 2010 schedule. Click HEREto see the times and dates that your favorite team will be playing on and which teams Ben Roethlisberger will be sitting out for! All of us here at the Four Peaks Brewsletter Home Office in sunny downtown Tempe are already preparing for the first game of the season. An NFC Championship Game rematch between the Minnesota Vikings and the Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints on Thursday, September 9th. Will Favre come back to exact revenge on the team that beat on him so mercilessly last January? Do the Saints have what it takes to repeat? With the 2010 schedule out you know autumn is just around the corner!! This Friday is the Rockin BBQ & Four Peaks Beer Tasting at Talking Stick Golf Course (located at Indian School and the 101) in Scottsdale, Arizona. I hope you got your RSVP in on time. It is promising to be an outstanding event that you won't soon forget. We will have a full six of our beers on hand, Talking Stick has a sinfully decadent menu prepared and at only $45 per person it is quite the steal! Hope to see you there. This week in the Brewsletter is quite possibly the most interactive we have ever produced! Both the Brewer's and Dave at the Grill & Tap Dispatch need your help. We discuss the intricacies of HR 4278 and the need for some new and exciting "Show Us Your Cans" photography. We implore you to find in your hearts to help a Brewery out. Now on with the content! |

The Brewers Blog
Do you want to do something good today?
What if we said this good thing will
create jobs; that it will help grow the economy, and ultimately it will
grow the amount and diversity of craft beer in the US. It'll
take some effort on your part (if you consider typing effort), but it
will be well worth it.
We're talking about a tax reduction
for small brewers; specifically HR 4278 and we need your help.
First, watch this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYcjaF-GL8c
Second, go to this website and get
all the info you'll need to contact your local representative (even
you out-of-state fans of craft beer, this is a federal bill):
http://www.brewersassociation.org
Hopefully this will be enough to
motivate
you to write a simple letter on behalf of the thousands of craft brewers
who desperately need relief from this excise tax.
Thanks, with your help we can get this
done. |

The Grill & Tap Dispatch with Dave Tanzi
Last
week was all about heeding the advice of our wiser elders, that being stopping
to smell the roses essentially. During
that movement we offer out thanks to all of you who visited us this week up
north, down at the mother ship, and especially at our tent in the Scottsdale
Culinary Festival Beer Garden, otherwise known as utopia with little tickets
and tiny mugs to wear around your neck.
If
you were out there you might've noticed things are starting to heat up
literally, and while Mr. Rooney correctly pointed out that summer is over sixty
days away officially, he of course doesn't live in the desert. The old codger would likely melt, actually,
if he visited our great state during the calendar days of summer. But the rest of us are gearing up for the big
swelter, and since I'm assuming just about all of you readers have not
completed your octogenarian years, most of you will be on the move occasionally
in the coming weeks and months for at least brief interludes of vacation from
the broiler. So thanks for the assist
last week Andy, but now we're all about future plans.
I'm
guessing some of you have trips to far reaching and exotic places, tough ticket
sporting or concert events, or at the least a weekend in Sheboygan to visit the
in-laws. So, as I mentioned last week,
I'm throwing down the gauntlet for Show Us Your Cans. I want you to make the Travelocity gnome look
like a single zip code recluse. Show us
your cans from hot air balloons, with a baboon, in countries we've never heard
of, with (or sneakily behind) big name celebrities and athletes. Do you realize how much free publicity those
photos of Dirk and Nash drinking by the Golden Tee at a local bar got?
Show
us your cans with a Tibetan monk or Everest Sherpa. Get your contraband on and show us them
inside the Twins new Target Field. Grab
some can photo love at Ibiza, a World Cup match in South Africa, or even with a
Federale in Rocky Point. Chad Qualls and
the rest of the Arizona bullpen owe me at least a re-creation of the Bull
Durham shower beer shot after another blown save that cost me hundreds of
dollars (of course, we don't condone gambling, and please, above the waist
gentlemen), and Mike is still waiting for the photo of Ryan Reynolds with a can
of Kilt - actually, a full length shower beer shot of that might end his
marriage, but beyond that no Greg Oden style sex entries, please.
Here
are the other rules - there are none. CGI is welcomed, assuming it is well done
(I remember a notable omission from Obama's beer summit...). Bringing cans to places where beer is not
allowed is not a disqualification, but preferably you enter with an empty can
in this scenario. Get creative, get daring, get out there - just don't get injured
or arrested; or if you do, show us your can in jail! Tim, please have our
attorneys review this last paragraph for liability (ed note: done, we're clean!), but it should be suffice to
say that Michael, myself, the entire Grill & Tap and Four Peaks Brewing Co.
as a whole entirely exempts itself from any legal responsibility, or financial
obligations towards medical or legal expenses.
We're
uping the ante on the payoff too, to be revealed in an upcoming dispatch, but
it all depends the quality of your entries, folks!
Speaking of cans, and since the rumors of future 24
oz. canned Hop Knot tall boys are picking up steam, I've recently discovered a
very nice American IPA in a can. Some of
you might not believe it, but there is nothing like a good hoppy ale from fresh
new-lined aluminum. It'll turn you into
a believer and greatly increase your anticipation for the Hop Knot can
potential. That being said, while we
encourage and enjoy our fellow fine-ale brewers and their products, I reserve
my dispatch print for our own fine ales, so if you'd like to know about it,
come have a Hop Knot at the G & T and I'll be happy to reveal the identity.

Tidbits & Such And Such
Some
overcast skies, a slight chance of precipitation and a cool breeze coming
from the west. It's just one of those days you wish you could bottle
up and save for the middle of August! This is conceivably the last
gasp of spring so enjoy it while you can. As we wind down another
fantastic edition of the Brewsletter let me take a few moments to hit
on some activities, links and asides to keep you going until next week.
1. Playoff Season - Looks like the Suns and the Coyotes are both in the midst of a
Playoff Series! The Suns play again tomorrow night and the 'yotes are
scheduled for Friday! If you can't make it to the games, stop by
either Four Peaks location to watch all the excitement! Turns out that
we have televisions on every wall!
2. Leroy Brown - Supplies are beginning to dwindle, make sure you stop in before it's all gone.
3. Luxist Link - Luxist.com, according to their web page, is a site
dedicated to covering the best the world has to offer on a
variety of luxury and fine living topics. They feature real estate,
trends in travel, the art world, shopping, fashion, gourmet food, wine
and the spending habits of the rich and famous. Personally, I was
unaware of their existence until I received an email mentioning that we had been nominated for "Best Brewpub In America" by the readers of their site. If you are of the mindset of agreeing with them (like I was), please follow this LINK to their web site and vote for us! We are one of only five locations throughout the country to be nominated, so log in and make yourself heard!
4. World Cup Soccer - Less than 50 days until we are treated to World Cup Soccer live from South Africa. It will all begin on Friday, June 11th with Mexico taking on the South African team (the U.S. will play its first game on Saturday the 12th). The soccer revolution will be televised (and will be available at both Four Peaks locations)! For all matches, schedules and times click on this FIFA LINK.
5. American Craft Beer Week - From May 17th to May 23rd make sure you join us and hundreds of other breweries around the U.S. by celebrating American Craft Beer Week. I will be touching on this topic in greater detail in the coming weeks so stay tuned. To find out more and to get involved in any and all of the shenanigans, go directly to their website.
6. Tandem Bikes Are All The Rage!
- Just ask Terry Pepper and Trevor Schultz! Be on the look out in Greater Tempe all summer long as Terry and Trevor pedal into work... and into your hearts... on their bicycle built for two! It's going to be a boundless summer bro-mance for the ages unraveling for you live and free of charge all year round exclusively at our Four Peaks Tempe location. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll wonder why!
7. Max Power
- a.k.a The Ryan Rudzinski Theme Song. Please utilize and play this handy LINK whenever this Four Peaks Tempe Manager walks into the room.
8. Zane Lamprey
- The host of the popular "Three Sheets" program (currently airing Wednesday's at 8 pm on the Travel Channel) will be making a visit to the Valley on Saturday, May 1st at The Marquee Theater in Tempe. He's in town to promote his book "Drinking Made Easy" which documents the places he's been and what he's learned about the art of drinking in his travels. Check it all out on his website HERE. Rumor has it that he may be making a stop at our Tempe location sometime before the show...
Well that'll just about do it. Hopefully we've given you more than enough things to do and check out until next week. Until then, see you at the Brewery.
Cheers!
Your Friends at the Four Peaks Brewery and The Four Peaks Grill & Tap
