Because We Can
Beer Can

Craft beers in cans? What are we talking about? We'll let you in on a little insider information: Craft beers are going to cans so we will explain why this is happening. Breweries like Oskar Blues in Colorado and Maui Brewing in Hawaii have been canning with great success for a few years but now Fat Tire is coming out in cans. Yes, Fat Tire in cans!

"Introducing cans was a natural choice given that they are outdoor-friendly, light for transport and readily recyclable," said Bryan Simpson, spokesperson for New Belgium. "In addition to the lighter carbon footprint, Fat Tire can now travel to places where glass is not an option."

Distributing cans will save fuel during transport to other states by lightening the weight of the trucks. The beer will last longer in cans since there is less head space which means less oxygen in the beer. And zero light is allowed in the can thereby eliminating UV Skunk and are easily recyclable. The cans have a water-based coating, so the beer doesn't touch aluminum.

Let us know your thoughts on cans but we can guarantee that you will be seeing more craft beers in cans on the shelves of your favorite liquor and grocery stores. Four Peaks will be adding a canning line to their soon to be announced new brewing facility! How about a can of Sunbru Kolsch on the golf course or by the pool or on the beach or boat?

Casks This Week
Mellon

This is the John Mellon auditorium in Washington, DC where the Savor Beer Tasting took place. Let's just hope our daughters don't see this venue...it could be a very expensive wedding.

Tempe's Cask Conditioned Beer is 8th Street and North Scottsdale will have Kilt Lifter on this week for your tasting pleasure.

| Cheers!

For the Eurofans: Congratulations to Manchester United on a fine victory to take the UEFA Champions League!! They beat their rivals Chelsea in a shootout in Moscow. Believe it or not, Four Peaks has a fan base of great soccer fans who like to come to the brewery and enjoy a pint of 8th Street English Style Pale Ale while watching Liverpool abuse Arsenal. And please, no MLS talk-they stink!

For the Amerifans: Congratulations to David Cook for winning the title of American Idol! He won a close one against heated rival David Archuleta. It was a brawl of Cage Fighting proportions but the pale faced boy beat the juvenile fair and square.

Bonehead Red On Tap
Bonehead

Attention all Four Peaks denizens!

We, the good folks at your local brewery are proud, yes proud, to present to you our new seasonal, the Bonehead Red. Taking our cue from the myriad of beers we have so recently dry-hopped and knowing deep in our hearts that everything must be better prepared in such a fashion, we have unveiled our double dry-hopped American Amber Ale. In much the same fashion that your parents may have referred to you as "God's little miracle" or "our little surprise" this little beauty arose in a similar fashion.

As legend has it, late one night in the deep, dark recesses we call the brew floor, one intrepid brewer had a date with destiny. Not to get into specifics, but the night wore on and, well, have you ever had that one evening when you were supposed to go out with one person but as fate would have it, you found yourself with somebody else entirely? Well, unbeknownst to "this brewer" at the time, his evenings rendezvous would provide us with a serendipitous concoction that we just had to share with all of you!

As Brewer-In-Chief Andy Ingram so eloquently put it: It has 6% alcohol with a strong malt backbone supporting a pleasant and fresh hop aroma and flavor. With our luck it will be a smash hit. That's just great.

Like all our other offerings we love it and hope you enjoy it as much as we did delivering it! Supplies are limited so come in and have one soon!

Savor in DC a Huge Success
Andy Savor

Andy and Jim just returned from DC as they sampled the east coast on some of the beers from Four Peaks. They met quite a few homesick people wondering if Six East was still open. And they met quite a few who didn't know Arizona was a state: "Did you turn off the light when you left"?

All in all, everyone loved the Kilt Lifter and the 8th Street and wondered why they could not buy the beer in their area. Our response: "Arizona is keeping us so busy that we don't have to leave the state so too bad for you".

The Food at Savor

On the left are the rosemary chocolate truffels which was paired with the 8th Street Ale and on the right was the tenderloin bruschetta paired with the Kilt Lifter Scottish-Style Ale. Simply perfect pairings!!

That is all for now so have a great Memorial Weekend and be safe!!

Skaal (for all you Danes),
