Let's get on with the Brewsletter. This week, in honor of the 30th Anniversary of the greatest sequel ever made (aside from The Godfather Part II), The Empire Strikes Back, I've interspersed dialogue from the movies into the titles and content of this issue in hopes of giving you something to enjoy for the long Memorial Day Weekend. As for the articles, the Brewers recap the creation of the new seasonal, Dave from Scottsdale gives you a few things to ponder, and the menu for the 2010 Father's Day Brunch is officially unveiled. Now, if you don't mind, I have to run to Toche Station to pick up some power converters... |

The Brewers Blog (just a bunch of scruffy looking nerf herders)
Our baby has a name.
Through a little on-line voting from
the breweries involved in the collaboration beer that we mentioned last
week, we came up with Mötley Brüe
RyePA. Hey, why not?
It was a pretty motley crew that showed up to brew the thing as you
can see by the pictures...
At any rate, it was a fun day spent
with a group of like-minded professionals. It's a unique industry
where you can have all of your competitors over to share a brew-day
and all the while exchange thoughts and "secrets" without fear
of them being used against you. It's our firm belief that if
all of us local brewers can make better beer then that will ultimately
help everyone. In other words, if a novice craft beer drink goes into a local brewpub and samples what they consider to be something
akin to turpentine then what's the likelihood of that customer trying someone else's beer, or, for that matter, what's the likelihood
of that person speaking kindly of all craft beer? Not good... We have an inherent advantage over
most mega-brews; we're local and we're fresh, but if we're not
good, well, bye-bye advantage. Last Friday went a long way toward helping all of us get a little better. Someone mentioned that the Arizona
brewing scene is about where Colorado's scene was about 6-7 years
ago; Colorado being, of course, one of the vanguard states in terms
of having its own brewing identity. It seems like a long gap to
close but by listening to the excitement and enthusiasm of the local
brewers we'll get there in no time. Look for Mötley
Brüe RyePA to come out the week
of June 13th.

In
this week's episode, we save the planet (but not the Gulf, you guys are
probably screwed), Viva Los Soles!, and a Stiffler's Mom situation in
Cleveland.
TITANIC
NOTION: Much has been proposed to stop
the spewing oil in the gulf, from the failed box cap, to filling it with
garbage, or detonating the hole like the entrance to an old coal mine. You know that BP, the US government and the
Army Corp of Engineers have concocted almost every possible solution,
and so far
they have come up empty handed. They
need a true visionary, an aquatic explorer and problem solver, and noted
conservationist. And most importantly,
someone experienced in managing hundred million dollar projects that
sometimes
seem to be sinking. This is why I
believe there is only one man who can save you - James Cameron. And if that doesn't work, just remember, you
are Super Bowl Champions, and no one can take that away from you.
LOGIC
IS LONG OVERDUE: Did you know that all the millions of gallons of oil
that's
been spewed into the gulf so far wouldn't even account for 66% of what
America
consumes on a daily basis? I used to
ride a motorcycle exclusively, and something occurred to me as I was
mentally
calculating my forthcoming monthly savings on gas: I should get a tax
credit
for this. Or, at the very least, some public credit. By even the most
conservative estimation the average motorcycle gets two to three times
the fuel
efficiency of the average car, and produces less than half as much
harmful
emissions. Besides the thumbs up for the diamond lane where's the green
love
for our nation's two-wheelers?
Speaking of
green, I almost never
carry it with me now - don't need it. These days, one could literally
purchase
sex and drugs on a debit card. But how about from now on we ONLY print
receipts
for items less than $10 WHEN REQUESTED. I bought a DVD from Best Buy for
$6.99
and it came with a receipt that was 3 yards long. And really, who needs a
record of their Slurpee purchase at 7/11?
The worst violators of this are the phone company.
Every six months they drop off two 600 page
volumes of white and yellow pages to every single residential unit in
the
land. Never mind that half of them are
unoccupied, or that most of us 21st century types haven't picked up
a Yellowpages in about a decade.
DELONTE
WEST BANGED MY MOM AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS LOUSY T-SHIRT:
The latest and most controversial internet
rumor is that LeBron James' tanking performance in the Celtics series
was the
result of an emotional breakdown from learning of a romantic affair
between his
mother Gloria and teammate Delonte West.
This is exactly the type of ridiculous speculation that would be
easily
dismissed if you've never seen photos of Delonte West and Lebron's mom
(they
kind of make a nice couple). Also, Wild
West is the same dude who got arrested for driving his ATV on the
highway with
multiple loaded shotguns, pistols, and a machete. How
is this guy still playing in the league?
POWER
RESERVE: Fueled by 54 points from their
bench and six players scoring in double figures the Suns evened their
series
with the Lakers at 2-2. The win
guarantees a game 6 back in Phoenix on Saturday night, but before that,
come
join us and another raucous crowd this Thursday night for game 5 at the G
&
T, tip off @ 6pm.

Your Father He is...
It seemed only natural that we would begin
promoting our Father's Day Buffet to coincide with the 30th Anniversary
of the movie that epitomized the love between a father and his son. I
am of course talking about The Empire Strikes Back, the second movie (or
5th chapter) of the Star Wars Series.
Remember the time that your father severed your right hand with a laser sword in order to demonstrate to you
just how much he cared? How about the time that he chased you out
of your snow fort with a legion of blood thirsty troops hell bent on
teaching you a valuable lesson about respecting authority? Or, how
about when dear old dad held all of your friends hostage on a strange world just
so he could have the chance to meet up with the boy that he so
deeply cherished? Seriously, who hasn't shared similar experiences
with their own father?
So in honor of Darth Vader, the greatest father who
ever lived, here is the official menu of our Annual Father's Day Buffet
in Tempe on Sunday, June 20th from 10 am until 1 pm. Until next we meet...
May the

Now Lets Blow This Thing and Go Home.
That'll
just about do it for the fourth and final installment of the May 2010 edition
of the Brewsletter. Coming up next month
we will discuss at length the long Arizona warm up, air conditioning bills, World
Cup Soccer and the simple joys of having a nice cold can of Kilt Lifter out on the
lake. But until that time, here are a
few things in brief to hopefully keep you entertained for the Memorial Day
weekend:
1.
Suns/Lakers - It's starting to get good.
After the impressive win on Tuesday night we can't wait to see what
going to happen Thursday! Tip off
is at 6pm, stop by and watch all the High Def action. While you're at it, bring your friends along!
2. ASU
Baseball - The regular season is quickly coming to an end this weekend, but the
College World Series is set to begin on June 18th. We will keep you posted as to who and when our
#2 nationally ranked Sun Devils will be playing in Omaha in a few weeks.
3. Mötley Brüe
RyePA - Sure the Brewers talked about it at length, but we're pretty excited
about this one!
4. Cheese Puff Day - Only 2 weeks away!
5. Website Update - Much like Star Wars creator
George Lucas, we are taking full advantage of the current CGI technology out there for the
upcoming Four Peaks Brewing Company Webpage 2K10, Special Edition. Feel free to check out the cool new renderings
of our VW microbus which will soon be gracing the site (yes, this IS computer generated!):

6. Four
Peaks at Taste Of Tops - Coming up on
Thursday, June 3rd, our intrepid Brewers will be at the Taste Of
Tops on Farmer and University in Tempe. Join them for a 4PBC Pale Ale Tutorial showcasing
our 8th Street Ale, Hop Knot IPA and Raj IPA. It'll
be going on from 6 pm -
8pm and Taste of Tops will be
offering pint specials and giveaways throughout. I will make sure to remind you of this next
week, never fear.
7. Dora The Explorer - The following picture appears
to be causing quite a stir in regards to the Arizona Immigration Laws. Leave it to a simple cartoon character to increase
the ire of a population more than the actual reality involved (file under: Tinky Winky,
Joe Camel and Ernie & Bert). To read
the entire article, click HERE. 8. The Amityville House - Are you looking to purchase
some real estate? Did I mention it was in
New York? Did I mention it was featured in
several movies? Did I mention that it's because
it might be haunted? Still
interested? Then plop down the $1.15
million it will take to buy the Amityville Horror house! Newly redecorated and looking sharp, this
baby still has a few surprises left in her. (It is not known if the you have to
pay extra for the walls to bleed). If this still sounds promising, please click HERE.
9. Dell Computers - Seriously, if you feel like spending an hour and a half on the phone talking to a customer service representative who says it'll take 4 weeks to fix your PC, by all means, call them. If you're lonely and need someone to talk to, call their support line at 1-800-433-9014. Seems like they have more than enough time to guide you through wrestling the ears off a gundark (Han Solo gets the best lines!). But I guess that's what they're best at, isn't it?
That's all I got, now go have yourself a safe and
exciting Memorial Day weekend. See you
back here next week for more happenings at your favorite local brewery. Until then, GO SUNS!
Cheers!
Your Friends at the Four Peaks Brewery and The Four Peaks Grill & Tap
